Beam is a one-time purchase from Noats, Inc. It covers every Mac you use. Use it only on Macs you own or are allowed to use, and do not share it or sell it on.
1. Agreement
These terms govern your purchase and use of Beam, a macOS application made by Noats, Inc. ("we", "us"). By buying, downloading or using Beam you agree to them. If you do not, do not use the software.
2. Your licence
When you buy Beam we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual licence to install and use it on the Macs you personally use, for any purpose, personal or commercial. Beam needs to be installed on both ends of a connection, and one purchase covers all of them.
- It is a one-time purchase. There are no recurring fees.
- There is no licence key. We take you at your word.
3. What you may not do
- give, sell, lend or otherwise pass Beam on to another person, or install it for someone who has not bought it;
- use Beam on a Mac you do not own or are not authorised to use, or to view or control someone else's screen without their permission;
- use Beam to break the law, including computer-misuse and surveillance law;
- reverse engineer or decompile it, except where the law expressly allows that regardless of these terms;
- remove or obscure any copyright or trademark notice.
4. Other people's Macs and screens
Beam can show and control a window on another Mac without anything changing on that Mac's screen. That is a feature when both Macs are yours and a problem when they are not. You are responsible for having the right to use every Mac you connect, and for whatever you do through a beamed window. Making sure that is lawful and permitted is your responsibility, not ours.
A guest link opens one of your windows in someone else's browser. What they see and do with it is between you and them.
5. Refunds
If Beam does not work for you and we cannot put it right, email hello@noats.ai and we will sort out a refund. Refunds are otherwise at our discretion. This is in addition to any rights you have as a consumer.
6. Updates
Beam checks for updates and offers to install them, and you can check for one yourself from the app at any time. Updates may add, change or remove features, and a major new version may be a separate purchase.
7. Ownership
Beam, its name, icon, design and code, belong to Noats, Inc. Your purchase is a licence to use it; it does not transfer any ownership. Beam includes open-source components, each used under its own licence; email us for the list.
8. Privacy
Beam has no account and no analytics, and what you beam travels between your Macs and not through us. What little we hold is described in our privacy policy.
9. No warranty
Beam is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will work with every network, every Mac or every future version of macOS.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost data or business interruption, arising from your use of Beam. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for it.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep your statutory rights.
11. Termination
You may stop using Beam and delete it at any time. We may end this licence if you break these terms. On termination you should delete the app. Sections 4, 7, 9, 10 and 12 survive.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Noats, Inc. is established, and the courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except where consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and continuing to use Beam after a change means you accept the revised terms.
