Beam connects your Macs to each other. What you see in a beamed window travels directly between those Macs and never through us. The app has no account, no analytics and no server of ours behind it.
On this website we hold what Stripe gives us when you buy: your email address and the receipt.
Who we are
Noats, Inc. makes Beam and runs beam.win. For anything in this policy, write to hello@noats.ai.
The app
Between your Macs
When you beam a window, the picture, your keyboard and mouse input, and the clipboard if you have clipboard sync on, go straight from one of your Macs to the other, over your own network or your Tailscale tailnet. The connection is encrypted and pinned to the Macs you paired. We are not in the path and cannot see any of it.
Guest links
If you share a window by link, the Mac that owns the window serves that page itself, to whoever opens the link, over the same network. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. Who you give the link to is up to you.
What leaves your Mac, and to whom
- Update checks. Beam checks beam.win for a newer version, about once a day and when you ask it to, and downloads updates from updates.beam.win. That request carries the app's name and version, nothing else. There is no usage or hardware profiling, and it does not report your macOS version.
- Tailscale. If Tailscale is installed, Beam asks it, on the same Mac, which of your machines are on your tailnet. That never leaves your Mac.
That is the whole list. Beam contains no analytics, no crash reporting and no telemetry. If you send us a problem report, the app zips the diagnostics onto your Desktop and you decide whether to attach it to an email.
Permissions
Beam asks macOS for Screen Recording, to capture the window it is sharing, and Accessibility, to deliver your input to it. Both are used only for the window you picked, only while you are beaming it, and only on the Mac doing the sharing.
This website
Buying Beam
Payment is handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your email address and card details on its own pages, under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address, a Stripe customer reference, and the transaction details: date, amount, currency, and any promotion code you used. We use those to send your receipt, handle refunds, answer support, and, rarely, to tell you about a change that affects whether Beam keeps working, such as a macOS compatibility issue. We do not send marketing email, and we do not sell, rent or share your address for anyone else's marketing.
Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics to count visits, see which parts of the page people read, and see how many people who start a purchase finish it. It sets cookies, and Google processes your IP address as part of that. This applies to the website only. The app carries no analytics of any kind.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel, and the app download is served from Cloudflare. Both receive standard web-request information, including your IP address, in the course of serving you the page or the file.
How long we keep things
Purchase records stay in Stripe for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Your email address stays with us while you might want support or a refund; ask us to delete it and we will, and it is gone from our side rather than marked inactive. Anything the app holds is on your own Macs, for exactly as long as you keep it.
Your rights
You can, at any time:
- ask what we hold about you, and get a copy;
- ask us to correct it;
- ask us to delete it;
- object to us using it;
- complain to your data protection regulator.
One email to hello@noats.ai is enough for any of these. In practice the only thing we can hold about you is what Stripe passed on from your purchase, so most requests are quick.
Children
Beam is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant and we have your email address, we will tell you.
